CERAMICS

ceramics

Remember I told you I like ceramics that looks handmade and rustic? Or like my friend said: “you always want the ugly ones” (?!). Anyway.. I like these beautiful ones from House Doctor. And I wanted to wish a happy weekend to you too!

DIY – MAGNETS WITH A PATTERN

magnets

This is a really simple diy, all you need is Fimo clay and magnets. Take small pieces of clay and mix them together with your hands until you’re happy with the pattern. Then you roll them into small balls, and use your fingers to press them into small “plates”. Harden them by following the instructions on the fimo clay package.

magnets

Take the magnets, I found these self adhesive ones, and place them on the back of the “plates”. If you use regular magnets just glue them on instead.

magnets

And you’re done! Just remember, that black clay have a tendency to “take over” so start with a small piece and then add later on if you want more black.

DIY – LEATHER KEY COVER

keycover

I saw this diy on pinterest and I just had to try it.

For this you need: leather ( I used fake leather), a pair of scissors, sewing machine and a hole puncher.

Start by cutting out a rectangle from the leather, a bit wider than your key. And double the length of the key’s “head”.

Fold the leather and cut the corners.

/// Vik lädret och klipp av hörnen.

keycover

Sew a seam on both sides. Then you make a hole where the key’s hole is.

keycover

Place the key in the cover and you are done!

DIY – LINEN CARDHOLDER

diycardholder

Do you remember the linen fabric I used for the potholders? Well I didn’t use all the fabric then, so  I made this cardholder. Not the first one on the blog, and probably not the last either.

First I cut two pieces, about 21×12.5cm.

diycardholder

Then I used the sewing machine to zigzag around the edges. After that I placed the two pieces on top of each other, and sewed them together. But I left a small opening at the bottom.

diycardholder

Next step is to turn the rectangle inside out.

/// Sedan vände jag rektangeln ut och in.

diycardholder

After that I sewed the opening by hand, and then I folded one of the sides of the rectangle (5 cm) inwards and sewed an seam around all sides, 1cm from the edge.

diycardholder

Done! I used a simple leather thread to hold the cardholder together.

BOOKS

books

I visited IKEA the other day and saw Ingegerd Råmans book “It’s nothing but it’s still something” and I just had to look inside. So much beautiful pictures, but I didn’t buy it. Another book I flipped though when I was in a hurry a couple of weeks ago was Hans Blomquist’s “In Detail – Inspiring Ideas for Creative Interiors”. But I didn’t buy that one either. But I have been thinking about them ever since. Have any of you the one or the other of these books? What do you think about them? Or do you have any other favorites you can recommend?
